Registrations for the Community Presale have closed.

How much are tickets?

General Release tickets are $440 inc GST + Booking free

All tickets include admission to Gaytimes 2024. All tickets include free camping. All tickets are for the entire weekend.

Glamping tickets are also available for purchase, find out more information here.

How do I get a ticket?

Tickets go on sale on Thursday 31st August at 9:00am AEST. All Festival Tickets and add ons like Glamping Packages are sold via our ticketing provider Humanitix.

Past attendees and subscribers who register will have exclusive access to Community Presale tickets via an access code which will be emailed to you in advance. You can sign up here.

A smaller allocation of General Release tickets will go on sale to the general public at the same time.

Tickets will be sold on a first in, best dressed basis. Be ready to purchase. Demand will be high. Tickets have sold out in minutes in previous years.

If you miss out on a Community Presale ticket, you can still purchase a General Release ticket.

We are putting all the tickets on sale at the same time to make it as fair and inclusive as possible.

How will the COMMUNITY Presale work?

Gaytimes community members (which includes past attendees and subscribers) have the best chance of securing a ticket, as the bulk of our ticket allocation is reserved for the Community Presale.

If you have previously purchased a ticket or subscribed, you will receive an email with an exclusive access code prior to tickets going on sale. This code will give you to access to the Community Presale allocation.

Please note this email will be sent to the email address you used to purchase those tickets or subscribed with — so please check before registrations close if your email has changed.

Look for the email in your inbox the morning of tickets going on sale. If you can’t find the email with the Community Presale access code, please check your spam folder or check if you are using the correct email address.

If I get the Presale code, am I guaranteed a ticket?

Unfortunately, due to demand, we cannot offer past atteendees and subscribers guaranteed access to a ticket. Community Presale tickets will be available for purchase on a first in, best dressed basis. In previous years these have sold out within minutes.

You best bet is to be in a quiet place with your device and payment information at the ready 10-15 minutes prior to tickets going on sale Thursday Aug 31 at 9:00am AEST.

How many tickets can I purchase at once?

For the Community Presale, past attendees and subscribers can purchase up to four (4) tickets.

For General Admission, general public can purchase up to two (2) tickets.

Can I get a refund?

No refunds will be available, except as required under Australian Consumer Law.

Can I resell my ticket to someone else?

Name changes will be available directly through Gaytimes and will open later in September.

The only way to resell your ticket is to purchase a name change and contact hello@gaytimes.com.au.

DO NOT exchange funds for Gaytimes tickets with strangers on social media, gumtree or on Tixel. Sadly ticket scams and scalping has increased significantly online and we are no longer able to validate Tixel tickets.

Please beware of scammers and scalpers. Only purchase tickets directly through Gaytimes (via Humanitix) or arrange a friend to buy one.

Ticket prices are inclusive of GST. Additional fees are calculated by Humanitix including your booking fee and some transactional fees depending on your method of payment. We also have to pay fees to Humanitix and to our payments provider. If you choose to use a payment plan, we also have to absorb costs associated with After Pay or ZiP.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. For Gaytimes 2024, Humanitix will be offering both AfterPay and ZiP as payment plan options so you can purchase your tickets and glamping etc. upfront and pay in instalments to make it more affordable. Please set up your accounts for these providers in advance and require to their terms and conditions.

Can I get a discounted ticket if I’m experiencing hardship?

In 2024, Gaytimes is offering heavily discounted Hardship tickets for those within our community who are experiencing hardship - however applications for these tickets have closed.

Can I work or volunteer at Gaytimes?

Volunteer applications will open in October. Further information will be made available on our website, and emailed out to subscribers. Volunteers receive a ticket in exchange for working two shifts at the festival, and it is a great option if you can’t afford a ticket or want to meet people.

Paid roles for experienced crew are available from time to time, and we will advertise these roles on our website and social channels. Please note these roles tend to be short term or seasonal casual or contract roles, as Gaytimes does not have any full-time employees.

If you’d like to express your interest in joining our crew, you can email us at hello@gaytimes.com.au.

Why are tickets more expensive this year? What are ticket prices going towards?

Like all festivals in Australia, costs have significantly increased in recent years due to COVID-19, inflation, and cost of living pressures impacting the entire live music and events industry. In 2023 alone, we faced significant cost increases we couldn’t have anticipated (some of our fixed infrastructure such as staging nearly doubled) and the festival lost money — despite having a successful year the year before.

To absorb increasing costs and ensure Gaytimes can continue in future years sustainably, we have had to increase ticket prices slightly. Ticket prices for Gaytimes 2024 are still in line with other three-day camping festivals.

Unlike much larger festivals with 10,000+ patrons to share these costs, Gaytimes has to cover ALL of the costs with just ~1500 paying patrons. Ticket revenue has to cover many overheads including venue hire, staging infrastructure, production and lighting, site infrastructure (like marquees, stretch tents, power, lighting, portable toilets, fencing etc) and equipment to build it, insurances, licensing, security, first aid, other safety services such as Dancewize, catering, cleaning, waste management and removal, traffic management, event permit and planning documentation and consultants, transport, creative, artist fees and nearly 100 paid crew.

While many smaller camping festivals have only a single stage or feature only DJs or run programming only over two days, Gaytimes features a significant live music, performing arts and activities programme across multiple stages and spaces outdoor and indoor over multiple days. We feature over 100 artists and over 60+ live music and DJs each year — similar in ambition to festivals more than twice our size.

Ticket prices are also set to ensure they are affordable for most people but can also help subsidise heavily discounted tickets for people experiencing hardship and for First Nations attendees.

Gaytimes is a community-run festival self-funded almost entirely through our ticket revenue and bar revenue. We receive no ongoing government funding, major corporate sponsorship or philanthropic support. We run the festival as a labour of love.

We pay our crew, our artist and our suppliers but we rely on the generosity of many people. Given our size, international and major artists often play for significantly reduced fees, and our key crew often work tirelessly on the festival for months for much less than they would normally get paid. No one is making a profit from this event — we do it for our community.
